  • Red Carpet – 15%

Selecting A Local Preliminary

Here is where you can take the first step to becoming Miss Kentucky!

Enter into one of the local preliminaries held throughout the year across the Commonwealth for your chance to compete at the state level. A list of Local competitions along with their respective information, eligibility requirements and contact information can be found on the Find A Local Competition page.

Candidates who have competed at Miss Kentucky or Miss Kentucky's Outstanding Teen cannot enter the same local competition the following year in order to win a different title within that local organization (this includes teens moving up to the miss division). Candidates must wait a year before representing the same local organization at the state level in Teen and/or Miss.

Philanthropic Fundraising

Candidates have the opportunity to raise donations for the Miss America Organization's national platform, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Candidates must raise at least $100 per each local preliminary entered. After raising at least $400 at the local level, a candidate may enter as many local competitions for which you qualify in the current competition year. However, the $400 is just a minimum; you may raise more money for CMN if you wish to do so.

If a candidate is to make it to the state competition, an additional donation of at least $250 beyond the local donations must be raised in order to compete.

To administer the CMN fundraising, each candidate must do the following:

  1. Create your personal web page on the CMN website:
  2. Raise the required funds for CMN before the date of your competition.

Save The Dates

There are several events that will be mandatory attendance for those competing in the state competition.

Please save these dates in the event that you are to win your local preliminary.

  • Candidate Orientation Weekend: April 30 - May 1, 2022 (location TBD)
  • Miss Kentucky and Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen Competition: June 13-18, 2022 (Miss) and June 15-18 (Teen) at the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center (SKyPAC) in Bowling Green, KY.
